Turning Lead into Gold: The Alchemy of Peer-Workshopping Your Poems In-Person
Peer feedback can provide enormous value to the poetry revision process. But what is good workshop etiquette, and what is the difference between editing and revising? Why are we sometimes resistant to accept constructive criticism, as well as give honest feedback, and how can we overcome those obstacles? What makes a strong poem, and how can we ensure that both positive and negative feedback is constructive and actionable? Participants will come away with specific strategies and an understanding of the pillars of a successful peer workshop. Optional: Participants are encouraged to bring a short poem draft (about 20 lines or fewer) to workshop with peers.
Note: This workshop is open to all levels of writers.
